Caroline Meriwether Goodlett | Additional Description: She helped various state and local associations merge to form the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She became its founding president when the group became a national organization in 1894. The organization is best-known for erecting hundreds of memorials and monuments to the Confederacy that perpetuated the Southern "Lost Cause" myth and intimidated African-Americans.
