Participated in early 1942 raids on Marshall and Gilbert Islands, assisted in sinking IJN Carrier Shoho in the May 1942 Barttle of the Coral Sea. Her planes sank IJN Carrier Soryu and help sink IJN Carrier Hiryu in the 4-7 June 1942 Battle of Midway.
