Caption:
Cadet Life Garden - Weekend Leave | Additional Description: Thought freshmen had few weekends off, upperclassmen could leave the campus most weekends unless under certain demerit or class restrictions. There were few personal cars, but "thumbing" provided the means of transit. A usual Saturday scene was an orderly queue of cadets, shown here in front of Sikes Hall (then the library), with thumbs extended. It was understood that all lined up in the order of their arrival - first to get there, first to get a ride.
