Additional Description: The muzzle marking from the top, clockwise, read "C.A. & Co.", "1324", "1862", "T.J.R.", "No. 16." These markings indicate this howitzer was produced by Cyrus Alger & Co. in 1862. The howitzer weighed 1,324 pounds when inspected by Thomas J. Rodman for acceptance, and assigned the registry number 16.
