Stanford's Mississippi Battery Position | Additional Description: The battery is represented by a 12-pdr Field Howitzer and a 6-pdr Iron Field Gun. Both are of Confederate manufacture. On the second day of the battle, Stanford's Battery was assaulted by a wave of Federal assaults. Buying time for the Confederates to form a new line further south, the battery twenty men, four guns, and six caissons.
