Additional Description: The Williams Road Bridge in Chapmanville, Penn. also has these rare patented Phoenix columns, which were manufactured by the Phoenix Bridge Company of Phoenixville, Penn. Used primarily as compression members, the prefabricated columns were stronger and could handle heavier loads than other designs at the time.
