Caption: A Franklin County Medal of Honor Recipient
Additional Description: Headstone of William Longshore of the 30th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Pvt. Longshore is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Ft. Scott, Ks. He was awarded the Medal of Honor during the Siege of Vicksburg as part of the "forlorn hope" - a party of 150 volunteers who were to bridge a dry moat and to place ladders to scale the walls of the breastworks.
