Caption: Ruins of St. James Church, after the 1871 fire
Additional Description: St. James' bell tower survived the Great Chicago Fire, as did some of its walls and its recently erected memorial to the parish's Civil War dead. The bell tower was incorporated into rebuilt cathedral.
