Additional Description: The memorial and park honor the 1,816 men, mostly from New Mexico, of the 200th and 515th Coast Artillery Regiment. Of them, 829 died in battle against the Japanese, during a "death march" to Japanese concentration camps or shortly after being liberated (usually from malnourishment and/or mistreatment).
