Additional Description: Marc studied art at Munich's Academy of Fine Arts, starting in 1900. In 1911, he and August Macke founded "Der Blaue Reiter" art group. He was killed by shrapnel to the head in the Battle of Verdun in France in 1916. Marc's works were labeled "degenerate art" by the Nazis and removed from German museums in 1937.
