Additional Description: Inscription on the James Rifle at the position. The main difference between the different series of James Type 2 rifles is simply the inscriptions. This piece has markings on the top - "James Rifle Cannon // Manufactured by // Ames Mfg. Co. // Chickopee // Mass // 1861". This particular piece has a weight stamp of 912 (pounds) but no "U.S." acceptance marks.
