Chris Reid Oral History Artwork Project Marker
Photographer: William Fischer, Jr.
Taken: April 6, 2009
Caption: Chris Reid Oral History Artwork Project Marker
Additional Description:
I went to 'The Metropole' on
O'Connell Street for ballroom dancing,
'The Young Hearts' on the Adelaide
Road for quick steps and waltzes
and 'The Ierne' for céilí. I went to the
'Crystal Ballroom' off Grafton Street
and to 'The Pallas' on O'Connell Street.
Every Saturday night I'd dance at
'The Olympic Ballroom' off Pleasants
Street. Fellas would ask me out to the
pictures and I went with my pal to
'The Royal' every Friday and also to
'The Gaiety','The Olympia' and
'The Queens'. That was the late 1940's.
