Additional Description: The State of Texas erected this memorial in 2002 to honor its sons who fought here at the Battle of Raymond on May 12, 1863. This is one of only about 20 such memorials erected by the State of Texas to commemorate their troops engaged in Civil War battles at a number of important locations.
