Inscription.
Robert ("Bob") Gore was a University of Delaware undergraduate studying chemical engineering when he invented GoreTexⓇ. This polymer material became key to the success of W.L. Gore and Associates, a company that Bob's father, Wilbert L. Gore, and mother, Genevieve Gore, started in their Newark home in 1958.

Bob Gore was elected to the Board of Trustees in 1992. Generous supporters of various University programs, Bob, his wife, Sally, and mother, Vieve, joined the first rank of benefactors with the gift of this classroom building, which opened in 1998. It is dedicated to the people of W.L. Gore and Associates.

The addition of Gore Hall and renovation of the facing DuPont Hall, dedicated in 2002, complete the campus plan of architect Day & Klauder for The Green, approved by the Board of Trustees in 1917.
