1. Offermann Stadium Marker

Inscription. Site of the former minor league baseball park most commonly known as Offermann Stadium, home of the Buffalo Bisons. Opened in 1889 as the new Olympic Park. In 1907 name changed to Buffalo Baseball Park. Reconstruction in 1924 changed the name to Bison Stadium. In 1935 renamed for the late team owner Frank J. Offermann. First game played on site was on May 8, 1889. First night game in Int’l League history on July 3, 1930. Bison great Luke Easter first player to hit a ball over famous centerfield scoreboard on June 14, 1937. Last game played on this site was on September 17, 1960. Stadium also hosted other sporting events most notably boxing. Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson and Hank Aaron all played at the stadium.

Erected 2011 by Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame, Buffalo and Erie Country Historical Society, Friends of Buffalo Sports Museum.
