Inscription.
M*A*S*H, a brilliant blend of drama and comedy — incorporating the universal theme of making do under difficult circumstances — drew a faithful audience that grew every year and landed the show in the pantheon of classic television.

Four years after M*A*S*H began filming here, the sale and transfer of the 2,000-acre 20th Century Fox Ranch was completed and it was reborn as Malibu Creek State Park. With the show being filmed in a public park, fans were allowed to come watch as long as they stayed out of the way of cameras and crew.

Although Fox Studios filmed most of the interior scenes on a soundstage, all of the large scene exteriors involving numerous cast members, multiple vehicles driving around, helicopters, and the occasional tank (the season four episode "Hey Doc") were done here in the State Park.

Over the course of 11 seasons, M*A*S*H grew to become a beloved landmark television series that garnered over 100 Emmy nominations from its 251 episodes. The final episode in 1983 remained the highest-rated television broadcast in history for 28 straight years until the 2011 Super Bowl.

Decades after the TV series ended, M*A*S*H continues to resonate with audiences all over the world, still airing in 36 countries. In the show's 30th anniversary special, actor Alan Alda observed that filming here in Malibu Creek State Park in some ways resembled a real MASH unit, because electricity, water, food, and equipment all had to be brought in from the outside.
