The site marker for this particular landmark, California Registered Historical Landmark No. 10, however, has more extensive text, and notes that the Reading Adobe was destroyed by vandals in 1942. Inasmuch as this marker makes no mention of the destruction of the adobe, it is likely that this pointer marker predates the Reading Adobe's demise.
