1. Japanese Markers Marker

Inscription. Here are four grave markers for early Japanese-American settlers. All of the stones have the date of death according to the Imperial Reign years. The horizontal stone to the north is for the Yoshimuras of Fukuoka Prefecture, next to it is the stone for the Nishios of Yamaguchi; both stones date from the Taisho reign of Emperor Mutsushito (1912–1925). The vertical stones are for the Tokushige family and both date from the Showa reign of Emperor Hirohito (1926–1988). The Buddhist death name, very common for the era, is written down the center of the stone for three of the four deceased.
