1. After the Pratts Marker
Inscription. The Kansas Historical Society purchased 23 acres of the ranch in 1982 and it was listed in the National Register of Historic Places the next year. The outbuildings were badly deteriorated. Beginning in 1986 extensive restoration work was undertaken. Roofs were replaced, stone walls rebuilt, two-thirds of the shearing shed reconstructed, and stucco removed from the rear exterior of the house.
