Regarding US Mediterranean Squadron and USS Constitution. The marker was established to honor the memory of American and Maltese sailors who served aboard the USS Constitution during the Barbary War. The National Capital Commandery of the Naval Order of the US led the project with support and funding from twenty-four (24) private donors. Diplomatic and US Navy representatives
