1. Shoemaker's Shop Marker
Inscription. Capt. Zachariah Hallock (1749-1820) made approximately 1,700 pairs of shoes in this shop and his son continued until about 1830 when manufactured shoes became available. It originally stood on the south side of Sound Avenue. About 1860 the Hallock moved the building to this site and converted it to a "milk house" with a cellar underneath to keep dairy products cool.
