1. Wilmington and Weldon Railroad Marker
Inscription. Longest railroad in the world when completed in 1840. Length 161 1/2 mi. Terminus was nearby.

Now operated by CSX Corp., these rails lead into town. The Wilmington and Weldon Railroad was one of four rail lines that transformed Weldon into a transportation hub during the 19th century.
