Inscription.
Keating Building, 1890. . This Romanesque-style structure was financed by George Keating, but he passed away before its completion. His wife Fannie directed the completion, which is evidenced in the more feminine and decorative appearance of the upper floors. In 1893, San Diego Savings Bank opened its doors on the ground floor. Sharing the building with the bank during the 1890s was the Public Library and the Humane Society. A small key shop attached outside started business in 1914; from 1927, it was operated under Armond Viora’s ownership for over 65 years.
