This man, born in North Carolina in 1799, lived in this neighborhood for many years, dying in 1857. His size was legendary; he is said to have been 8 ft. 6 in. tall and to have weighed over 800 pounds; three ordinary sized men could be buttoned inside his coat. He is buried near Life, 16 miles due west.
