Herbert Hoover, the first president born west of the Mississippi, spent his formative years in this neighborhood, which is preserved as Herbert Hoover National Historic Site. You may visit his birthplace and other buildings he remembered from his childhood. You may also browse through the Presidential Library-Museum and visit the graves of President and Mrs. Hoover.
