National Heritage
This construction was started in the 18th Century, replacing a more austere building. During the French intervention, it was temporary residence of the Empress Carlota Amalia in her passage by Mérida after disembarking in the port of Sisal on her way to Mexico City in 1865. Also, this building housed the first office of the Merida-Sisal telegraph, medium that allowed communicating the city with other points of the world.
