Erected 1899 by State of Illinois. (Marker Number MT-705.)
 
Location. 34° 55.93′ N, 85° 13.922′ W. Marker is near Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, in Catoosa County. Marker is on Reed's Bridge Road west of Jays Mill Road, on the left when traveling west. Touch for map. This monument is located in the national park that preserves the site of the Chickamauga Battlefield. It is situated with a cluster of markers, located along a park roadway that runs between the Lafayette Road and Jay's Mill Road, a short distance northwest of the National Park's eastern boundary. Marker is in this post office area: Fort Oglethorpe GA 30742, United States of America.

More about this marker. According to the description information provided by the National Park Service, the monument is, 7'6" x 4'4" x 4'6" rock-faced monument consisting of rectangular granite block with an inscribed polished front on granite base. The tops of both pieces are beveled. Marks unit's position during Battle of Chickamauga."
