This Brigade arrived at Viniard's from Lee and Gordon's Mill soon after 4 o'clock. It formed in two lines on the lower ground south and west of the house and upon reaching the crest of the slope in its front came under a withering fire from the enemy.
Colonel Bradley was wounded and Colonel Walworth took command, and brought up the second line to the relief of the first. After severe fighting the enemy was repulsed and the 8th Indiana Battery of Buell's Brigade of Wood's Division was recaptured.
There was light fighting thereafter until sunset when the enemy withdrew into the forest east of Viniard's fields.
The Brigade lay in line in bivouac on the ground of its fighting until 4 a.m. when it was withdrawn with the other brigades of its Division to the high ground next west of
