The Bart J. Bok Telescope
On 1996 Aril 28, the 90th anniversary of the birth of Bart J. Bok, fourth Director (1966-1970) of the Steward Observatory, this telescope was renamed in his honor. Dr. Bok’s enthusiastic leadership resulted in the construction and early operation of this facility, bring Steward Observatory into the forefront of international ground-based astronomy.
 
Erected 1967.
 
Location. 31° 57.728′ N, 111° 36.018′ W. Marker is in Tucson, Arizona, in Pima County. Marker can be reached from Arizona Route 386 12 miles south of W. Tucson-Ajo Hwy. (Route 86), on the left when traveling south. Touch for map. Located at Kitt Peak National Observatory in the Tohono O'odham Nation Reservation.
