Dedicated to the City of Baltimore by the Italian American Organization United of Maryland and the Italian American Community of Baltimore in commemoration of the discovery of America, October 12, 1984-William Donald Schaefer Mayor of Baltimore.

It is because of these people that the Italian ethnic heritage will live and endure. (Names not listed and Committee names not listed) The statue of Christopher Columbus was dedicated on October 8, 1984 by Ronald Regan, President of the United States and William Donald Schaefer, Mayor of the City of Baltimore.
