Inscription.  Here are buried the families of Winthrop Sargent, 1st Gov. of the Mississippi Territory, and Seargent S. Prentiss, Congressman. "Let no monumental marble deface with its mock dignity the patriot's grave."
Erected 1976 by Mississippi Department of Archives and History.
