The 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Air Cavalry Division, tested the new doctrine of the air mobility in the Ia Drang Valley during the first major battle with the North Vietnamese Army.

Combat in the Ia Drang opened a new chapter in the war and forged a bond of comradeship among the survivors, a common thread that binds soldiers from all eras.
