Regarding Francisco del Rosario Sanchez. Francisco del Rosario Sánchez (b. March 9, 1817 - d. July 4, 1861) was a lawyer, politician and independence activist in the Dominican Republic. He is considered, along with Juan Pablo Duarte and Matías Ramón Mella, to be one of the Founding Fathers of the Dominican Republic. Sánchez, leader and political strategist of the Dominican war against the Haitian occupation, took the reins of the independence fight after the absence of Duarte and proclaimed Dominican independence in the
