1. American Civil War Memorial Marker
Inscription.

This Memorial recognizes the 57 men from
Waterloo who died in the Civil War.
Local residents sculpted the individual cenotaphs.

The white marble Star Stone honors
all of the 620,000 Confederate and Union
soldiers and sailors who died in the Civil War.
Each gilt star represents 1000 lives lost.
Citizens of New York and visitors from other states
as well as Canada and Italy incised the stars.

The North-South Cenotaph consists of stones
and bricks sent from each of the 36 states
that existed at the war's end.

The Women's Cenotaph pays tribute to
all the women of the Civil War.

The Memorial flagpole carries the
United States flag of 1865
