Inscription.

The Pool of El Chan
The whole conservation project is named after this pool. Nestled in the canyon depths El Charco del Ingenio (The Factory Pond), has been a source of popular legends for many centuries. Its guardian spirit, El Chan, is a mythic being from the underworld who dwells in its mysterious waters and likes to show its terrible power to those daring to approach it.

The pool changes colors throughout the year and is fed by a perennial spring, one of the last natural sources in San Miguel de Allende.
