Inscription.
Adams' Brigade.

Brigadier General Daniel W. Adams.
September 20, 1863, 9:30 a.m., 1st Position.

32nd Alabama, - Major John C. Kimbell.

19th Louisiana, - Lieutenant Colonel Richard W. Turner.

Slocomb's (Louisiana) Battery, - Captain C. H. Slocomb.

Adam's Brigade reached this position from its bivouac some 400 yards east of this point about 9:30 a.m., moving with its Division in line of battle. Helm’s Brigade on the left of the Division struck the Union log-works. Adams’ Brigade on the right, and Stovall’s Brigade in the center, encountered John Beatty’s Brigade in the vicinity of the McDonald place. Adams' Brigade after dispersing the troops in its front, crossed the LaFayette road at McDonald's and wheeled so as to face south. Stovall's Brigade halted at the road. Having driven that portion of Beatty's troops confronting it across it, and formed on the left of Adams facing south. Only half of Helm's Brigade reached the LaFayette road.

walking trails.

In locating this tablet I used the "Chickamauga Battlefield" map, that I purchased at the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, Visitor Center, to determine both the marker number for this tablet and the tablet's location in relation to the rest of the park's monuments, markers, and tablets. According to the map it provides the, "numerical listing of all monuments, markers, and tablets on the Chickamauga Battlefield (using the Chick-Chatt NMP Monument Numbering System).”
