In its early years, the building housed the Chas. I. Flynn and Co. Cigar Factory, one of several cigar factories in the city. The owners erected a large replica of a cigar on the roof.
Following its use as a cigar factory, the building for many years was occupied by a laundry/cleaning establishment.
