1. Lincoln Academy Marker
Inscription. Founder: Emily Pruden, educator and philanthropist from Orange, Connecticut. A co-educational boarding and day school, grades 1-12, for children of African descent. Accredited 1923. Home of Mildred Wellmon Elementary School, a historic Rosenwald building. Sponsored by American Missionary Association. School was located on Lincoln Academy Road.
 
Erected 2012 by Lincoln Academy National Alumni Association.
 
Location. 35° 14.931′ N, 81° 17.113′ W. Marker is near Kings Mountain, North Carolina, in Cleveland County. Marker is at the intersection of CV Alexander Drive (County Route 1189) and Lincoln Academy Road, on the right when traveling east on CV Alexander Drive. Touch for map.
