1. Pinecrest Sanitarium Marker
Inscription. Established in 1927 by act of the Legislature to provide additional facilities for sufferers from tuberculosis. Opened to the public in 1930. Capacity increased, 1938. Early treatment of the disease is emphasized. Altitude 2350 feet.
 
Location. 37° 46.992′ N, 81° 10.134′ W. Marker is in Beckley, West Virginia, in Raleigh County. Marker is at the intersection of Marshall Avenue (West Virginia Route 19) and Bailey Avenue, on the left when traveling south on Marshall Avenue. Touch for map. Pinecrest Sanitarium is now the Jackie Withrow Hospital. Marker is in this post office area: Beckley WV 25801, United States of America.
