Marker series. This marker is included in the Erie Canal marker series.
 
Location. 43° 3.998′ N, 76° 29.726′ W. Marker is in Elbridge, New York, in Onondaga County. Marker is on New York State Route 31, on the right when traveling west. Touch for map. Enlarged Erie Canal Lock No. 51, and its marker, are located approximately 2 miles west of the Village of Jordan, Onondaga County, N.Y. on the north side of Route 31. Marker is in this post office area: Elbridge NY 13060, United States of America.

This is the wall that was added to the lock in 1884 when it was "lengthened", thus allowing two canal boats to lock through in tandem.
