1. Edward P. Reichhelm
Cross research has led to some very interesting historical facts about Edward P Reichhelm, the person who erected this tablet.
He held multiple US Patents and was a representative and, my understanding, the founder of the American Furnace Gas Company which produced products for metal working, finishing, tempering, hardening etc. This company famously made the rotating ovens that gun manufacturers such as Colt Firearms Manufacturing, Smith and Wesson, and Savage used to produce the famous high polished tempered bluing from the 1900s until hot salt bath bluing took over as the primary gun finish. Reichhelm’s obituary, May 6, 1919 states he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant of the 51st United States Colored Infantry, then later Captain.
Reichhelm was also at another company called the American-Swiss File & Tool Company that made files for metal working such as gunsmiths, jewelers, etc. Note To Editor only visible by Contributor and editor
