Inscription.
Capt. Levi W. Hart.
The battery served four 20-pounder Parrott rifles from about May 27 and one 30-pounder Parrott rifle from about May 30, to about June 10, in this position, when the right section, under Lieut. Francis DeGress, was ordered to a battery on the left center of Steele's Division. The left section, under Lieut. Edward Adams, served its two 20-pounder Parrott rifles, one 30-pounder Parrott rifle, and one additional 30-pounder Parrott rifle from about June 23, to the end of the siege, July 4, 1863, in this position. Reported casualties in battery during the campaign and siege killed 1.
