1. Federal Courthouse Marker
Inscription. The Federal Courthouse in Meridian was the site of two of the most significant legal actions in Civil Rights history: the filing of James Meredith's lawsuit to integrate the University of Mississippi in 1961 and the infamous "Mississippi Burning" trial of 1967.
 
Erected 2014 by the Meridian/Lauderdale County Tourism Bureau. (Marker Number 5.)
