1. Garrett Cemetery Marker
Inscription. Final resting place of Chief Pathkiller (B. 1749 - D. 1827) who served as principal chief of the Cherokee Nation. Many prominent early settlers are also interred here including newspaper editor and publisher, Confederate infantry captain and colorful character, Lafayette Marion Stiff. As Mr. Stiff had requested, he was buried so he could watch the steamboats go by. Listed on the Alabama Historical Cemetery Register.

Location. 34° 8.414′ N, 85° 41.099′ W. Marker is in Centre, Alabama, in Cherokee County. Marker is on College Street (Route 20) 0.1 miles south of South River Road, on the right when traveling north. Touch for map. Marker is in this post office area: Centre AL 35960, United States of America.
