Hut 1
The first Bombe machine was installed in this hut. It was brought here in March 1940 to test whether it could help Codebreakers discover Enigma settings more quickly than by hand.

Hut 8
Hut 8 was the centre of naval codebreaking. Here Codebreakers faced one of their biggest challenges when the German navy made its ciphers almost impossible to break.

The office buildings were called “huts” by the codebreaking staff. Hut 1 and Hut 8 are the gray buildings on the right. The tan building is Hut 3.

At this desk Alan Turing led the team that broke the Enigma and Lorenz ciphers and developed the Bombe machine to speed the codebreaking process.
