1. Cherry and Webb Building Marker

Inscription.

One of several large department stores historically downtown, Cherry and Webb was located here since 1889 and in 1924, extensively reconstructed the building in early Art Deco style with polychromatic terra cotta. This building actually incorporates elements of four earlier 19th century structures, portions of which are still visible around the corner on Lee Street. By the early 1990s, Cherry and Webb had closed and rehabilitation in 1998 restored the building's 1924 facade, one of only three Art Deco buildings downtown.

Erected 2016 by City of Lowell and Lowell Historic Board.
