1. Berdan's Sharpshooters. Company F was part of the special regiments formed by Hiram Berdan in 1862, utilizing expert marksmen. The Sharpshooters were intended to be employed similarly to modern day snipers. However, in operation, the regiments were often detailed as skirmishers.
