1. Cosmopolitan No. 4 Marker
Inscription. 110 yards from the back of this marker on the present southeast corner of 4th and Butler Streets stood the Cosmopolitan Arms Company, founded by Edward Gwyn and Abner C. Campbell, where carbines for the Union Army were manufactured during the Civil War. Production of these carbines in Hamilton, Ohio helped relocate the machine tool industry which contributed to building a stable, self-supporting economy in the middle west.
 
Erected 1976 by Hamilton Civil War Round Table & Butler County Bicentennial Commission.
