Edith Boldebuck received her Ph.D in 1944 from the University of Chicago. She was hired by GE in 1945. Dr. Boldebuck was a rare woman scientist, and rarer still, worked in the emerging field of polymer chemistry. Her work centered on making high temperature wire coatings and insulation using mainly polyimides and silicones. She was awarded approximately 48 patents.
