Inscription.
"I think I may say that he was my scholar and I was his teacher." At New Salem, Lincoln read Graham's books and in 1833 studied grammar and surveying. Teacher in Kentucky and Illinois more than fifty years, Graham died in South Dakota. In 1933 his remains were removed here.
